State Makes The Cut

This prospect has more than 30 scholarship offers and he's narrowed that list to five schools. He has co-leaders and he has also set up his first official visit.

Darrell Blackman, a 6-foot, 198-pound, running back with 4.4 speed in the 40-yard dash will be one of the most sought after prospects in the nation in 2002.

We were able to catch up with Darrell and he says he's got a couple of leaders right now.

"I've been offered scholarships by Michigan State, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati, Maryland, North Carolina State, Boston College, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Iowa, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Temple, Indiana and I know there's more but these are the schools that I can think of off the top of my head." Blackman said.

"My favorites are Maryland, North Carolina State, Boston College, Michigan State and Pittsburgh.

"North Carolina State and Maryland are my leaders. I've set up an official visit with North Carolina State on December 6th."

Blackman rushed for 1,727 yards and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore. Last year he rushed for 2,547 yards and 32 touchdowns.

Those numbers were good enough to earn Blackman all-state honors. Darrell also letters in basketball.
