The Spartans have a long history against St. Lawrence dating back to the 1950's when these two teams first hooked up. State owns a 15-7 all time advantage over the Saints (1-2) who come in riding a two-game losing streak after winning their home opener against RIT, before dropping consecutive contest against Niagara and Providence.
Despite the long history, this will be just the second time the two team have met in East Lansing and the Spartans are looking to rebound after a disappointing loss to the US National Development team.
Tim Crowder, Tim Kennedy, Mike Ratchuk, Jay Sprague, and Justin Abdelkader lead a balanced Spartans attack in scoring each with two points in regulation play, while Zach Miskovic leads the Saints out of the ECAC with four points on the season. Sophomore teammates Kevin DeVerglio and freshman Mike McKenzie have each chipped in with three.
MSU is smarting over a five-minute major against USND by Justin Abdelkader, resulting in a three-goal outburst by the Eagles that State couldn't overcome. The team hopes to work on the penalty kill and special teams this week, while adding some points to their tally.
