Now that coach John L. Smith's dismissal has been announced, he and his staff want to make an impression in order to perhaps fill openings on another collegiate staff elsewhere.
With that in mind MSU has shuffled the deck and several substitutes have risen into the playing group and in some cases, the starting lineup. Most notable is Jonal Saint-Dic, the junior college transfer who has supplanted Justin Kershaw as the starting stud end. David Stanton will again get the start over "OG" Nwagbuo at the three technique.
It will be interesting to see how much time Brett Kahn, who made a bit of an impression in the late moments of the Indiana debacle gets. Smith said at Monday's press conference don't hold your breath.
``Will we see Brett more? Probably not," said Smith
``because I'm hoping again that Jehuu becomes more healthy."
INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW:
..why the Spartans seem to get a spark when reserve QB Brian Hoyer comes into the game? Injuries are one thing, poor play is another and Drew Stanton is coming off one of the worst games of his career against Indiana.
...why Matt Trannon didn't immediately regain his spot after coming back from injury? T.J. Williams has made plays, but why at the expense of Trannon who early this year broke the single-game record for receiving?
...why Kahn won't get more playing time? Kahn is running hard, making plays and deserves some more minutes. What does John L. Smith have to lose at this point.
