Lerg got help from his linemate Chris Mueller who scored a goal and added two assist in a three point night.
Jeff Lerg stoned the Bulldogs all night, getting 35 saves in MSU most impressive performance all season long.
It was Mueller along with forward Tim Kennedy getting MSU off to a 2-0 start, scoring less than a minute apart, and that was all the Spartans needed.
Lerg and Chris Schepke ended the scoring for the Spartans who improved to 3-2-1 in the CCHA.
Now Michigan State (5-2-1) have a week off before traveling to South Bend, IN to begin a home-and-home with Notre Dame. The return match will be played Sunday at Munn Arena.
