EAST LANSING - The move to Michigan State has already paid dividends for Mark Dantonio. MSU has landed its first new recruit of the Dantonio era with defensive end John Hughes of Gahanna, OH Lincoln high school.

Hughes confirmed to GSN minutes ago that he has committed to the Spartans over Cincinnati, Miami, OH, West Virginia and Boston College.

"They use their tight ends and their receivers," said Hughes about Michigan State. "And I like their program."

The 6-foot-3 tight end/defensive end selected MSU over Akron, Ball State, Marshall, Toledo and Wisconsin.

The two-star recruit according to Scout.com experts projects as a tight end at the next level. Stay tuned to GSN as recruiting heats up this week.
