In The Fold: Cunningham joins MSU team

DETROIT - The Michigan State coaching staff has two verbal commitments this weekend, now that wide receiver B.J. Cunningham has given the Spartans a verbal commitment.

Cunningham was all but in the fold before coming to East Lansing, but his weekend visit put the Spartans over the top.

He told Scout.com Tim Adams prior to his official visit to East Lansing, MI., "Coach [Don]Treadwell (Michigan State's offensive coordinator) came to my school and to one of my games the other night and was talking to me. If Michigan State makes an offer, I'd think about committing, but I'd have to talk to my mom."

Mom gave B.J. her smile of approval and now the Spartans have a new wide receiver to line up for Coach Dantonio next season. Cunningham had Cincinnati as his favorite before Dantonio left and Brian Kelly's staff took over in Cincy.

"Cincinnati kind of went out of the picture after the coaches left," admitted Cunningham. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound three star receiver becomes the fourth verbal commitment to the new coaching staff.

The two-sport star might also be the next Matt Trannon. Cunningham is a solid basketball player.
