Leggett was one of the driving forces behind Muskegon's run to the State Championship. The 5-foot-11, 225-pound running back flew under the radar screen despite rushing for an incredible 2,000 yards and 31 touchdown for the Big Red.
He was named to the Detroit News Dream Team but garnered attention from mostly MAC schools before Indiana and then Michigan State got involved. When the Spartans offered, Leggett verballed quickly.
"I committed to Michigan State, maybe three days ago," said Leggett. "I just felt comfortable with everybody and I liked what they had to offer. Leggett said he visited the Spartans the weekend of December 15th but that it was kind of a 'last-second' decision to head up there that weekend.
Leggett said he knew that he flew a little under the radar as most of the attention on the Big Red went to star teammate Ronald Johnson, but Leggett is happy that his star is set to shine, along with another Big Red product, Corey Johnson, at Michigan State.
