Beachum Close to Trimming List

Cardinal Mooney standout Brandon Beachum has received interest from schools across the nation. With time on the camp circuit nearing completion, Beachum is now focused on trimming his list down to a final 10 within the next few weeks. GoSpartans.net recently caught up with Beachum to see how his recruitment is coming, along with finding where the Spartans sit for the four-year varsity starter.

With over 20 scholarship offers in hand, Youngstown, Ohio, linebacker Brandon Beachum has plenty of options. From his offers from traditional powers Florida State and Oklahoma, to offers from the majority of the Midwest, Beachum has fully taken advantage of the recruiting process.

"It's been great so far," Beachum told GoSpartans.net. "I've met a lot of great coaches and had a lot of fun experiences through this whole thing. I've had great times at all the camps and doing all the traveling in general."

One stop on the Beachum tour was in East Lansing, Mich. After receiving a lot of interest from Michigan State, Beachum decided to look into what the Spartans are all about.

"I was at Michigan State in March," Beachum told GoSpartans.net. "I just went on a personal visit to the campus; it wasn't for junior day or anything.

"It was a real fun experience," Beachum continued. "I didn't think that I would be as impressed as I was with the campus, facilities or coaches. It was a really great trip. I think they're moving in the right direction with Coach Dantonio."

After tripping to numerous schools over the spring months, Beachum also tried his hand on the camp circuit. With strong outings at the Elite Combine in Cleveland, the Scout combine in Pittsburgh, and the Nike Camp at Penn State, offers started flowing in for the Cardinal Mooney star.

"Coach Narduzzi might have been the first one to contact me from Michigan State, said Beachum. "I talked to him a few times through the camps and stuff like that. He ended up sending me a text message asking me to call him. He told me that Michigan State wanted to offer me a scholarship."

Beachum plans on having his list narrowed down to six or seven schools by the end of July, but, in the meantime, the focus was getting the list trimmed down to 10 schools.

"We did just trim the list," Beachum's father said. "We'd like to wait until calling all the coaches back before we go public with that list, though. We don't want them to have to read about not making the cut after the time they've spent building a relationship with Brandon."
