Michigan State sophomore forward Raymar Morgan has been invited to tryout for the US under-19 squad which will compete in the World Championship games.

Michigan State sophomore forward Raymar Morgan has been invited to tryout for the US under-19 squad which will compete in the World Championship games.

Morgan is one of only 20 players across the country invited to train with the prestigious squad in Dallas from June 28-30.

If tabbed for the squad, Morgan will compete in the FIBA World Championship games in Serbia July 12-22 on the US team coached by Jerry Wainwright of Depaul University.

Morgan was a member of the Big Ten's all-freshman team last season.

Lerg Named Player of the Year
MSU's Jeff Lerg was named named USA Hockey's Player of the Year.

Incoming State freshman Jeff Petry, son of former Detroit Tigers pitcher Dan Petry was named junior player of the year, he and Lerg will have a chance to get acquainted as both will be honored at a banquet in Colorado Springs, CO., next week.

Ladies set for Preseason NIT
Fans will get their first look at Suzy Merchant's Michigan State womens basketball team in New York as they participate in the preseason NIT.

In the new triple elimination format, 16 teams will participate from various conferences around the nation. The new format guarantees each team three contest. MSU will be led by sophomore center Alyssa DeHaan, guard Mandy Piechowski (LEFT) and a solid freshman recruiting class.
