Dream Team Receiver Updates Recruiting Status

"I've been to Iowa Northwestern, and Michigan State's [camp]," reports Saros who raised more than a few eyebrows in East Lansing last week.

GROSSE POINTE, MI - One of only four junior named to the prestigious AP All-State team, Grosse Pointe South wide receiver Jimmy Saros is putting in some 'sweat equity' in his quest to land a scholarship at his school of choice.

"I've been to Iowa Northwestern, and Michigan State's [camp]," reports Saros who raised more than a few eyebrows in East Lansing last week.

"I think I am pretty close to getting a few offers. This Monday I am going to Indiana, then Tuesday I am at Purdue, and my last camp is at the end of the month at Western Michigan."

One of the most prolific pass catchers in MHSAA history, Saros could end up #1 if he has another solid season as he is expected to do. He ranks 7th all-time of the MHSAA career receptions list. He is pretty much assured of moving into the fourth spot as he needs just 17 receptions.

He needs a 73 catch season to become the state's all-time receptions leader. He caught 75 balls for 986 yards a season ago in a tumultous season that saw South's longtime pilot, Mike McLeod pass away just before the season and the resulting plummet of his team to a 2-7 finish.

So what's in the future for Saros and who's talking to him now?

"I've obviously gotten to know Dan Enos quite a bit, he's our recruiting coach and (Michigan State) has invited me up a few times. I've gotten to go to their junior day. MSU is up there on my list."

"A few of the Ivy League schools have contacted me as well. Princeton and Brown said they they both want me really bad,"

Will the MSU and the Big Ten schools allow this super talent to escape to Ivy League country? GSN will keep tabs on Saros throughout his recruitment.
