"Me and Delvon Roe plan on getting up there together," said Staples. "He's already been up there a couple of times, so he's going to show me around and stuff."
It definitely has a little bit of an impact, because I won't be going to a situation where I wouldn't know anybody," Staples said.
In addition to a familiar face in the first year on campus, Staples said attending Michigan State with Delvon Roe also gives them a chance continue an athletic legacy together.
"(Unlike) some of the other schools in the area where there's already going to be guys from my school there, (at Michigan State) it's a little different," said Staples. "I'll actually have someone coming in my same class and we'll possibly be able to do all four years there like we did here, so that could definitely be a factor."
Although he said he does not really have a top five, Staples likes what he sees in East Lansing. "Michigan State is really high on my list, along with I'd say, just off the top of my head, Pittsburgh, Kentucky, Colorado, and Indiana," he said.
And the coaching staff continues to impress.
"I've stayed in touch with coach Narduzzi a lot, and I've talked to Dantonio a little bit," Staples said. "I liked them a lot. We got a chance to talk and I actually met them at my school earlier in the year. They seem like really good coaches."
