Kyle Lark (6-1, 220, 4.7), a junior-to-be linebacker prospect from Alma, comes from good football stock. His father played for Michigan State in the early 1980's and an uncle also played at Central Michigan.
But what's really impressive is their legacy of weight lifting. Some family members have
benched over 500 pounds. And while Kyle can't match the older generation yet, his progress
is nonetheless highly impressive, reporting a max bench press of 325.
Recently, Lark participated in a summer camp at MSU with teammate Adam Follett—a rising
senior QB recruit interested in the Spartans. GSN caught up with the pair and asked Lark to
talk a little bit about the recruiting process and his plans for the summer.
GSN: How long have you been recruited for?
LARK: "Just kind of jumped into things this summer here. Went to a few camps—Central
(Michigan), Western (Michigan), Michigan State, Notre Dame."
GSN: When it comes to the recruiting process, do coaches and schools seek you out, or do
you seek out them?
"It's a little bit of both. Sometimes really interested schools you'll find out from their
camp. Some coaches come to you also. We've had just, coaches stop in, and it kind of went
along with some of the coaches coming in with Adam. Then it came onto me a little bit. My
dad's a coach here at Alma too, so it kind of helps out."
GSN: What's it like being recruited with Adam?
"It's always nice to have someone there with you. You feel a lot more comfortable with all
the recruiting process. It's really great to have Adam with me the whole time, kind of show
me the ropes this year and getting into it. It was nice to have Adam with me."
GSN: What is the plan for the rest of the summer heading into the season?
"Definitely team first now. Camps are kind of wearing down now. We don't work with the
team all summer, but now it's really stepping into the next gear and getting everybody here
in the weight room and working out every day."
GSN: Do you expect your team to compete for a state championship this season?
"We're looking for big things. We'll take it one at a time though. First going after the
conference championship, that's our main goal right now. Just take it one game at a time."
