Ohio CB Weighing Options

With a slew of strong summer workouts behind him, Johnny Adams, "Mr. Excitement", has quietly collected scholarship offers from across the region. Michigan State is one of the schools that threw their name in the hat for the talented cornerback from Akron Butchel. Where do the Spartans sit in his recruitment? Has he narrowed his list down to five yet?

With coaching experience at both Ohio State and Cincinnati, new Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio is no stranger to the Ohio high school football scene. As one of the nations most highly recruited hotbeds, Dantonio's in roads to the Buckeye state are pivotal in whatever recruiting successes he has.

In the class of 2008, Akron Butchel star Johnny Adams, Mr. Excitement, has emerged from the neighboring state as a top Spartan target at the cornerback position.

"I visited a few weeks back. They offered me a couple weeks before my visit," Adams told GSN. "But I went down there and worked out. It was a nice little visit. They liked my performance.

"Coach Narduzzi is recruiting me for Michigan State. I also know Coach Dantonio. My relationship with him is pretty good."

Along an offer from Michigan State, Adams holds scholarship offers from schools across the region. Purdue, Syracuse and West Virginia are just a few of the offers sitting in Adams pocket, and, with a host of other options, Adams plans on taking his time through the process.

"They'll all even right now," Adams continued on all the schools that have offered him. "I still haven't had a chance to sit down with my coach and my parents yet to even figure out what criteria I'll be looking at when I select a school."

GSN will continue to provide the latest as it happens with Johnny Adams.
