Carter Enjoys East Lansing

Woodbridge, Va., athlete Morgan Carter recently made the long trip to East Lansing. How was his first experience at Michigan State and did it move the Spartans up on his list? GSN caught up with Morgan Carter earlier this week to find out how his visit went and so much more.

Since offering Woodbridge, Va., star Morgan Carter early on, the Michigan State Spartans have always been in the thick of it. As a result, while making his summer rounds earlier this month, Carter made a quick stop in East Lansing.

"I've never been to East Lansing before. I think that they showed a good interest in me by offering and pulling the trigger, so I knew I should make a trip up there. I wanted to explore all the schools that I'm interested in," Carter told GSN.

While on his visit, the 6-foot-4, 196-pound receiver had a first-hand opportunity to experience all that Michigan State has to offer. Despite his trip coinciding with the Spartans elite one day camp, coach Harlon Barnett made time to show the recruit around campus.

"It was good," Carter went on. "It was very, very good. He walked me through the facilities and then introduced me to the offensive coordinator. He took me to the indoor practice facility, the practice field and the weight room. Then he brought me to the academic building so I could meet with some of the academic advisors."

Along the way, Carter had his first face-to-face interaction with MSU head coach Mark Dantonio. While their time together was brief, Coach Dantonio made it clear how he sees Carter fitting in with the green and white.

"Michigan State is recruiting me as an athlete. I jut want to play wherever it can help me get on the field. As a matter of fact, with Coach Dantonio, he was actually the mastermind behind that Ohio State defense in 2002 that won the national championship. He had a kid on that team named Chris Gamble that he had the confidence in to play both ways. It gives me the confidence to know that if I can perform, I'll get on the field."

Stay tuned in the coming weeks as Morgan Carter begins setting up official visits and prepares to narrow his list down.
