Smith Nearing Decision

With his final prep season just around the corner, Southeastern wide receiver Fred Smith is nearing a final decision on where to continue his football career. Have either the Spartans or the Wolverines started to emerge? What is the time frame for a decision from this four-star wide receiver prospect?

As rivals both on and off the field, the Wolverines are a familiar foe to the Michigan State Spartans. In the recruitment of Detroit Southeastern wide receiver Fred Smith, the two intrastate rivals are again doing battle.

"I was just at Michigan this week," Smith, who had been leaning towards Michigan State prior to the visit, informed GSN. "It was a nice visit. I got to see where they saw me fitting into the program that they have there. Now I just need to take some time to myself and decide where I fit in the most as part of the family.

"At Michigan, they have made so many people into All-American's at my position, but they've also had a lot of guys that never lived up to the hype. Michigan State is an up-and-coming program, but they haven't really won a lot lately. I'm going to sit down and come up with a decision before my season starts on August 24."

GSN will follow the Fred Smith situation as it develops.
