ScoutRadio:MSU Basketball Gears Up For Opener

Neitzel, Gray and Naymick talk about their season opener against Chicago State

One more full day of practice remains before Michigan State opens their season hosting Chicago State in the first round of the CBE Classic.

The Spartans are looking at back-to-back games on Tuesday and Wednesday should they win their first contest.

After two shaky exhibition games, filled with turnovers and closer than expected finals, including a loss to Grand Valley, the Spartans have raised the intensity in practice and look to come out ready to go on Tuesday.

GSN caught up with Drew Neitzel, Marquise Gray, and Drew Naymick following their Sunday afternoon practice to see how ready they are for the regular season.

Neitzel talks about his shooting struggles and how the team has been practicing since their exhibition against Michigan Tech.

Naymick talks about how the Spartan big-men are coming along defensively and what he hopes they will be able to do as far as battling inside the paint.

And finally, Gray gives an update on his knee injury that kept him out of the Michigan Tech game and about the team's and his own personal goals for the opener.
