EAST LANSING - This could have all been so easy, all it would have taken is a phone call, but after a week of chasing this story, GSN has finally confirmed that Sprayberry GA., safety Brynden Trawick did indeed commit to Michigan State.
It is the policy of GoSpartans.net not to report a commitment until it is confirmed by either the player, a family member, a coach or a traditional media outlet.
Despite numerous calls to the player, his family and the Sprayberry coaching staff, we were still unable to confirm the story.
However, yesterday afternoon Dee Martin, vice president of the Sprayberry HS booster club, sent GSN an email confirming the commitment.
"I'm the VP of the (Sprayberry football) Booster Club. We had our end of season banquet last night and (Coach Shackleford) mentioned that Brynden had accepted Michigan State. That's the first I've heard, and really the only thing that's been said so far."
The good news is that Trawick appears to be a playmaker. At 6-foot-2, 210-pounds, he has the size to be a physical player at the strong safety position and gives MSU a nice presence to possibly team with Johnny Adams, another big defensive back in a future secondary.
Trawick told HoosierNation.com's John Decker that he liked "Michigan State's tradition and history and all of the great things that have come out of Michigan State."
Trawick becomes the 17th player to pledge to Michigan State. GSN will continue its relentless coverage of the recruiting period up to and past National Letter of Intent Signing Day.
