Waiting for More

Will Fleming is at home on the defensive side of the football; now he just needs to find a home for his football talents.

The two-star Akron native, who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 205-pounds, played safety in high school, but is being recruited primarily as a linebacker. He currently holds four offers.

"I have offers from Akron, Miami (Ohio), Boise State and Hawaii," Fleming says.

But he's anxious for more, notably one from Michigan State. Spartan coaches stay in regular contact with Fleming.

"I just got off the phone with coach Narduzzi the other night," Fleming said. "I love coach Narduzzi."

Fleming visited the Spartan campus earlier in the summer and got a chance to meet the rest of the staff as well. He enjoyed the visit and the coaches, especially linebackers coach Mike Tressel. "I just feel pretty strongly about the coaches," at MSU, Fleming says.

Once Fleming makes a final decision and finishes out his senior year at Archbishop Hoban HS, where he's a three sport star, he plans on bulking up to make the transition to linebacker at the next level.

What makes him a good defensive player?

"I run well, I'm usually the first person to the ball, I love to hit," Fleming says. "Defense just kind of flows naturally for me."

Fleming has taken two official visits, to Akron and Boise State, but hopes another to East Lansing is in the cards. "Coach Narduzzi is talking about doing an official," he says, adding that he is "still hearing from Illinois, West Virginia, and Iowa."

There is no pressure for him to choose right away, so Fleming says he'll make a decision when his heart tells him it's time.

"It will come down to the school I'm most comfortable with and like best," he says.
