ScoutRadio: Rick Comley Season-Wrap

Rick Comley closes the book on another season and talks about Jeff Lerg possibly being captain in 08

After falling just short of another Frozen Four appearance to Notre Dame in the regional final, Michigan State ends the season 25-12-5.

Just a day later, senior captain Bryan Lerg was getting a call from the Edmonton Oilers, offering him a pro contract.

Lerg's signing was followed by Justin Abdelkader leaving a year early to sign with the Detroit Red Wings and in a much bigger surprise, sophomore Mike Ratchuk signed a pro contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.

On Tuesday afternoon, Rick Comley spoke to reporters to close out the season and to look forward to next season.

Comley talked about the disappointing loss to Notre Dame, whether he thought Ratchuk made the right choice in leaving two years early, his thoughts on Abdelkader leaving, and on whether he thinks Tim Kennedy may be on the way out as well.

Among the more interesting topics was goalie Jeff Lerg, who was selected as a second-team All-American selection.

Comley talked about the possibility of Lerg wearing the "C" as team captain next year.
