MSU Elite Post Camp Report

The gates were closed, the action off limits to reporters and prospects were picked up and bussed into the MSU practice facility without much fanfare, but GSN was still able to track down the story and gives up an update here.

EAST LANSING - The gates were closed, the action off limits to reporters and prospects were picked up and bussed into the MSU practice facility without much fanfare.

But the action inside MSU's one-day elite camp was hot and heavy according to those who were there and watched the goings on.

GSN was able to glean from first hand reports from participants and official observers that Birmingham Brother Rice's Shamari Benton solidified his status in the eyes of the MSU coaching staff and could receive an offer from the Spartans this week.

Linebacker Chris Norman, MSU first commitment didn't involve himself in too many drills, instead working on technique and helping to recruit a few uncommitted players to MSU.

GSN spotted and confirmed the presence of Norman and Benton, along with Dearborn Fordson's Ali Alaboody, Cameron Gordon and Devin Gardner of Inkster, Jamonne Chester of Redford Covenant, Aaron McCord of Detroit Crockett and two Ohio players believed to be Jonathan Newsome and cornerback Michael Edwards of Cleveland Glenville.

Benton reportedly went away with top performers accolades and is likely in line for an MSU offer after what was described as a sterling performance and a private chat with head coach Mark Dantonio.

GSN will be walking down all of the top players who performed at the camp and updating the recruiting and commitment stories as they break.
