Barrent Commit No. 14 for Spartans

David Barrent, who had Michigan State in his top-five before settling on Iowa in early May, decided East Lansing would make a better home after all.

David Barrent, a former Iowa verbal, decided Michigan State is the place he wants to call home, giving the Spartnas their 14th commitment overall, various media outlets have reported.

GSN has attempted to contact Barrent but calls have not been immediately returned.

Barrent fits a position of need for the Spartan recruiting class as a projected offensive tackle.

In early May, Barrent committed to Kirk Ferentz as an important in-state commit.

The three-star tackle had a handful of offers from many Big Ten squads along with teams such as Iowa State and Nebraska.

The 6-foot-7, 285-pounder should feel right at home in MSU's pro-style offense. His Valley High School team employs a run-heavy scheme that utilizes the pro-I.

Stay tuned to GSN for more on this exciting development to the Spartans outstanding recruiting efforts.
