ScoutTV: The Honor of Captain

"It's humbling, especially the guys I'm with: Hoyer, Otis and Javon, three good friends of mine," Justin Kershaw replied when GSN asked him how it felt to be elected captain. "I'm just happy for the opportunity and hopefully we can — I mean we will help lead this team to a good season."

EAST LANSING — The Michigan State football team recently chose four outstanding student-athletes to lead the Spartans on the field this season.

"He's almost like a coach on the field," head coach Mark Dantonio says of QB Brian Hoyer. "I've been in the huddle with him and listened to — been near the huddle and listened to how he leads in the huddle. He's very good in that respect. … He was voted captain by his teammates, by his peers, and I think that makes a statement, as well. They believe in him."

GSN caught up with the three other captains — Justin Kershaw, Otis Wiley and Javon Ringer — to find out what the honor meant to them.
