Top Southern Corner for '10 On MSU Radar

Sources close to Bennett told GSN that the timing of the Spartans is good, because they are getting in on the earliest stages of his recruitment and that could pay dividends down the road.

DETROIT, MI - Sources have told GoSpartans.net that Tulsa (OK) Washington cornerback Eric Bennett is high on the MSU priority list for the 2010 class.

Bennett, 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, runs a 4.49, 40 time and is hearing from several teams including Arkansas, who offered him a scholarship just a couple of weeks ago.

Sources close to Bennett told GSN that the timing of the Spartans is good, because they are getting in on the earliest stages of his recruitment and that could pay dividends down the road.

While Bennett does not have an official offer from Michigan State, at least not yet, he is drawing interest from mostly southern schools including LSU, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Alabama and of course, the team that pulled the trigger with an early offer Arkansas.

However, some sources tell GSN that Bennett may open to the idea of leaving the South to check out northern schools and that MSU is positioning themselves to be a school of choice if that happens.

Scout.com's Greg Powers said that Bennett "has a shot at being ranked the top prospect in the state of Oklahoma" but despite that, hasn't received much interest from OU.

Stay tuned as GSN keeps you up to speed with prospects from near and far.
