Caper Learning Playbook Early

GSN caught up with Larry Caper, who has visited MSU bowl practices in an attempt to learn as much of the Spartan playbook as possible before he gets on campus. Hear what he had to say about his experience and watch some highlights from earlier this season.

Larry Caper got a taste of what Spartan football is all about.

Last weekend was one of a few times the 2009 running back commit from Battle Creek Central spent some time with the team as they prepared for the Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day. Fellow commit Micajah Reynolds also joined him.

Caper sat in on positional meetings and also watched practice.

"I just wanted to come up and see a bowl practice," he said of the unofficial visit, "see how their practices are run." Caper will be back for an official visit Jan. 9.

The team looked sharp, Caper said, and he got a chance to meet future teammates as well as to talk to one of the players — Javon Ringer — whose shoes he'll step into at Michigan State. One of the primary reasons behind the visit was to begin digesting some of the Spartan playbook.

"To get some experience," he said. "They said the plays and I'd make sure I stood right behind the running back, like with Javon, I stood right behind him to see what he does — watch his steps and everything for each play."

Watch for yourself the prize MSU has landed in some highlights of Caper at a game earlier this season.
