Cunningham, 6-foot-3, 232-pounds scheduled an official visit to Michigan State for January 24th, a criticial week for visitors as MSU tries to sort out who will get the last two scholarships of its 2009 recruiting class.
Cunningham recently went on the record as saying he wasn't sure if he would make the visit because he didn't want to anger the coaching staff at South Carolina. He had told them prior to making his verbal that he would visit Michigan State.
Cunningham's coach at Pageland, Joey Mangum, says his player is the real deal. "He's a dominant player at defensive end," Mangum told The State.com "He's the guy we want to run behind and throw play-action passes to."
His skillset is very similar to that of Orchard Lake St. Mary's star Dion Sims and MSU clearly is looking for a versatile player who could translate to either the tight end or defensive end in this class.
