Portsmouth, VA Churchland defensive end/tight end prospect Keevon Newsome is the brother of Penn State commitment Kevin Newsome and has the potential to be a big time collegiate defensive end.
EAST LANSING - With the class of 2009 all but wrapped, Michigan State is turning much of its attention toward building relationships with players for the 2010 class.
One of those players in Portsmouth, VA defensive end Keevon Newsome. Newsome is the younger brother of Kevin Newsome who flirted with committing to Michigan before finally settling on Penn State.
The younger Newsome already appears to be on track towards becoming one of the top players in the East after recording a self-reported 60 tackles and 17 sacks.
While some believe he favors Penn State and is a lock to commit there to play with his brother, that may not necessarily be true.
He told the Newport News Daily Press "I'm not in any rush. I'm going to take my time with it all because it's a big decision."
He is already hearing from East Carolina, Michigan State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, Penn State and Virginia Tech and as he gains more notariety, that list will likely expand big time.
MSU is getting in on the ground floor of Newsome's recruitment and the fact that the State of Michigan figured so highly with his brother's recruitment could open the door for the Spartans to make waves for the younger and potentially better of the two Newsome brothers.
