Crunch Time

Jairus Jones trekked to Michigan State last weekend and met Coach D in person. He saw a complete package at MSU — academics and athletics — and names the Spartans as one of three favorites.

He still has an offer — for now.

Jairus Jones visited Michigan State last weekend and talked to head coach Mark Dantonio in person for the first time.

"It was great," he said. "It was a lot of fun."

Jones says he was impressed with Coach D, a man he described as no-nonsense, and his experience at MSU. "The academics are on the rise, the athletics are on the rise," Jones said.

On the trip, Jones was assured by Dantonio that a scholarship has his name on it if he wants it, but time is growing short. Signing Day is in a few weeks and MSU has plenty of lineman on the radar as well.

Jones says he wants to wait for that day to make a decision, but he hedges a little.

"I'm trying to do that," he said.

Along with MSU, Iowa and Oklahoma State still remain on the top of Jones' mind.
