"It Feels Great To Be A Spartan"

Eaton Rapids star Alex Gauna becomes third in Michigan State basketball class of 2010 after committing to the Spartans Thursday after school.

EATON RAPIDS - After getting an offer from the Michigan State coaching staff on Tuesday, Alex Gauna wasted little time in committing to the Spartans.

Gauna gave MSU his verbal early this afternoon after school becoming the third player in the class of 2010 for Coach Tom Izzo and his staff.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound forward from Eaton Rapids admitted from the beginning that he was a big Spartans fan and that if an official scholarship offer came his way from MSU, he would have a hard time refusing it.

The dream became reality for Gauna on Tuesday when the MSU coaching staff had Alex Gauna and his family visit Michigan State's campus and laid out in detail why MSU was ready to offer a scholarship, how Alex would be used in the MSU scheme and how he would become part of the Michigan State family.

Gauna happily accepted and now will join Keith Appling of Detroit Pershing and Russell Byrd of Ft. Wayne Blackhawk Christian as the class of 2010.

When news of the newest commitment reached Appling he was excited to hear that MSU added a big man to the class. "I think we're going to be very exciting and fun to watch," he said.
