Johnstown (OH) Monroe offensive lineman Skyler Schofner picked up his latest offer from Michigan State late last week.

Schofner told GSN's Sean Scherer that he was delighted to find out that MSU wanted to offer him this week.

While Schofner's reaction is a good one, the Spartans know that they'll have plenty of competition to gain Schofner's commitment.

The 6-foot-7, 280-pound tackles as offers from Akron, Indiana, Illinois,Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina State, Ohio, South Carolina, Toledo, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.

So how good are Michigan State's chances?

According to Scherer, Schofner seemed particularly impressed by Michigan State's willingness to come to his school.

The next step will be for the Spartans to get the offensive tackle prospect on campus for an official visit.

Once that happens, all sorts of doors can open, so the next step will be to find out if and when Schofner plans to visit.

That part of the story will come on Monday when Schofner sits down with GoSpartans.net for a video interview in part 2.
