(EAST LANSING, MI) -- Maybe that "L" in John L. Smith stands for Louisville.
Smith has made waves in his former stomping ground and has lured top Kentucky quarterback Michael Bush in for a visit.
Bush confirmed that he will visit East Lansing sometime in the next two weeks mostly because of the persistent efforts of Smith.
''John L. has been calling,'' Bush said. ''I used to really want to go to Michigan State. I just want to see what it's like.'' When he gets to East Lansing, Tom Izzo will be waiting. Izzo has told the 6' 3" quarterback, who also is one of the top guards in the Southeast, that he would be welcome on the Spartans basketball team.
There's a possibility that the Spartans could get Bush to give a verbal if he's sufficiently impressed because the Male HS star is admitting that he's getting tired of the recruiting process and wants to make a decision soon.
''I was talking to my buddy today, and I used to tell him how making a decision on going to college was going to be easy,'' Bush said. ''Now it's almost time to make a choice, and to me it's getting tougher.''
The Spartans will have to face down Ohio State and Louisville for Bush's services. He is scheduled to visit the Buckeyes this weekend and Spartans fans will hold their breath, hoping the depth of the OSU roster sends Bush to MSU.
