Tampa, Fla.--The recruiting world of quarterback Stephen Reaves is continuing to expand as the Plant High quarterback searches for the right fit for his talents. After visiting Auburn last weekend, the son of former Florida quarterback and successful Coach John Reaves took a trip to Michigan State Friday and Saturday and he says the Spartans are definitely one of the top contenders for his services.
"I liked the trip," Reaves tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "It was a little cold, but you really have to look past that. Other than that I had a good trip. I loved all the coaches, they were really nice to me and all the recruits. I loved the players. I could get along with them really good."
With a new head coach in place and a new offensive system, Reaves says Coach John L. Smith made it clear that they wouldn't have a problem playing the best player next fall even if it was a freshman.
"One of the things I liked most about it was the fact that they said I could come in early and play. That's really interesting to me because they have some great quarterbacks in there. The confidence they have in me to think that I could come in and play early really struck me mind. They are right up there."
Scheduled to visit Southern California for his final visit, Reaves says that Auburn is still a team that he's considering and he will have a tough choice to make when he returns from sunny Los Angeles. He also took an official visit to Wake Forest in the fall.
"I still like Auburn a lot," Reaves notes. "They are definitely high on my list. Michigan State is pushing them right now. I'm going to Southern Cal this weekend. That will be my fifth and last visit. I'm going to try to take all my visits and I'll probably know by Monday or Tuesday after I come back from my visit.
"I don't think I'm going to wait until signing day because most of these coaches have to know. They need a quarterback, I don't think they can go that late. I would say I would make my decision by Tuesday after I come back."
