Big Recruiting Day: Spartans Land Three!

(EAST LANSING, MI)--SpartansInsider.com told you yesterday that State is beginning to play "rough and tumble" with the competition now that signing day is just a week away. Apparently verbal commitments mean nothing to the Spartans until signing day.

Well that tough hard-nosed attitude that John L. Smith's teams were noted for on the field is paying dividends in recruiting.

SpartansInsiders partner site BadgerNation.com has informed us that Terry Love, one of Michigan State's inital top wide receiving targets, who commited earlier to Wisconsin, has de-commited and is ready to sign with the Spartans on Feb 5th. This stunning turn of events has shocked Wisconsin who earlier saw MSU go after another of their verbals, running back Albert Young who commited to Iowa.

Love told BadgerNation.com "It was a change of heart. I kind of got to know the system that Michigan State changed to, as far as throwing the ball more. Also, Michigan State is losing a couple of key receivers so they are going to need somebody to step in."

Particularly with the decommitment of Chris Patrick before Christmas and Albert Young's announcement last week that he is shunning Wisconsin for Iowa, the Badgers were not thrilled about a third de-commitment.

"They took it rough," Love Jr. said. "They were shocked. It really took them a while to understand my reasons for it. They wished me the best of luck, whatever I choose, but I know they were a little disappointed."

Love Jr. said there was a zero percent chance of him changing his mind again.

"This is final. I'm not switching any more. I feel very comfortable with the decision I made, and I don't think I have any regrets on it," Love Jr. said.

This is one of the most significant commitments State has received because Love, the #88 ranked receiver in the nation, will give the State the kind of go-to receiver they've been seeking. Love gave the Spartans their 9th commitment of the year.

MSU also went after and landed Texas A&M running back commit Kris Bush of Louisiana John Curtis River-Ridge.

Bush is the kind of big back that Spartan coach John L. Smith loves. At 6' 1", 195 with 4.5 speed. Bush will also get a shot at immediate playing time if David Richard follows through on his threat to transfer to Missouri. Yesterday, Tecumseh's Cole Corey committed to State upping the total to eleven commitments for State.

MSU could get more help in the form of Tashard Choice, the Lovejoy, GA running back who will visit this weekend. MSU has a huge weekend on tap. Samad Cain, who on Saturday, commited to Minnesota will visit Michigan State and no doubt the coaches will take the gloves off to land this talented DB.
