RECRUITING: Defensive Line Focus

One of Michigan State's problem all year has been its inability to mount a consistent pass rush. Not surprisingly, the Spartans continue to beat the bushes for defensive line talent to bolster the ranks. Here's a look at four players who continue to flash up on the MSU radar.

Can William "Too Tall" Gholston skip his senior year and join the Spartans now? One of Michigan State's problem all year has been its inability to mount a consistent pass rush.

Not surprisingly, the Spartans continue to beat the bushes for defensive line talent to bolster the ranks. Of the four players that committed to MSU in the class of 2008, only Jerel Worthy has gotten any significant playing time and from 2009, they got just one commitment, from Corey Freeman of University Heights, OH.

MSU has Gholston's commitment, as well as that of Southfield Christian star Taylor Calero and Cincinnati Moeller standout Marcus Rush.

The Spartans could grab one more player from a group that includes Scout.com three-star prospect Sherard Cadogen who is expected to visit MSU for either the Michigan game or the Iowa game. Cadogen, of Cherry Hill (NJ) Camden Catholic seems sincerely interested in Michigan State.

MSU passed on Warren Mott standout C.J. Olaniyan after having extended an offer to him which they subsequently withdrew. Plymouth (MN) Wayzata star Tobi Okuyemi seems to have cooled on the Spartans leaving Kegan Funderburk of Pageland, SC and two-star prospect Matthew Mosely of Chicago's legendary Morgan Park high school still on the radar.

GSN will have interviews with all the remaining players in the upcoming days.
