Spartans Land Super Wide Receiver

Michigan State assistant coach Reggie Mitchell made it priority #1 to go after Illinois wide receiver Terry Love when John L. Smith retained him for Bobby Williams' staff. Mitchell got his man.

"I really wanted to go to Michigan State all along but I chose Wisconsin because of what was happening with the Michigan State coaches.

"After coach (John L.) Smith was hired at Michigan State, he called me and asked me if my commitment was solid.

"Coach Smith and coach (Reggie) Mitchell made an in-home visit and I changed my commitment to Michigan State.

"Nothing against Wisconsin, I just felt more comfortable with the Michigan State coaches."

Love, a 6-foot, 168-pounder, from Maywood (Ill.) Provison East was a three-year varsity starter and is considered one of the best wide receivers in the Midwest.
