State adds two more football recruits

Michigan State has landed two new recruits to bump their total to 13 (14), but could end up with as many as 23 after a slow start. Find out who these new possible commits are, including the current recruiting commit list!

(EAST LANSING, MI) -- Michigan State is closing fast and strong with fourteen recruits in the fold and they are expected to add at least four more and possibly end up with a recruiting haul of 23 players despite getting off to a slow start. MSU reportedly has seven private commitments that haven't yet verballed.

MSU landed speed back DeAundra Cobb, has confirmed. Cobb will be a transfer from Antelope Valley Junior College. Cobb rushed for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns averaging 7.8 yards per carry two seasons ago. He was unable to participate last season due to eligibility standards last season. Cobb runs a consistent 4.3 40 and could play in either the offensive or defensive backfield.

State ended a whirlwind recruiting season for Fork Union Academy (VA) defensive back Delton Ashburn, Jr. who gave verbal commitments to Louisville and Syracuse before settling on Michigan State. "This is a done deal," Ashburn's position coach Mike Donahue said. "He can fly. He ran a 4.285 in the 40. He returned three kickoffs for touchdowns."

Ashburn was delivered to coach John L. Smith at Louisville, then when Smith moved to MSU he decided to de-commit for Syracuse, but MSU won out in the end.

WHO'S NEXT: MSU is closing fast and hard on several players:
Joe Sanders - The #7 ranked linebacker/tight end is close to verballing to Michigan State but coach Richard Herzog says he hasn't made his mind up yet.
Lamarr Woodley: The #1 defensive player in the nation. Everyone knows Woodley's affinity for MSU, but Michigan remains hopefully, a Feb 5th decision.

Jerome Jackson - MSU has a scholarship waiting for this speed and power back. Woodley and Jackson have pledged to remain together which means all or nothing for MSU.

Darryl Melvin - Defensive tackle of Nassau Community College: This huge powerful interior lineman is all but set to verbal to State.

Mike Gyetvai - The huge Canadian offensive lineman (6' 6" 300, 5.28-40) is going to make his decision this weekend after being offered by MSU.

Michael Bush, the #1 rated player quarterback still available appears to be fading from MSU's radar screen. Bush was supposed to visit State this weekend, but now, that appears to be a longshot.
