EAST LANSING - Michigan State's Kirk Cousins threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns, Blair White caught 12 balls for 186 yards and two touchdowns, while Eric Gordon, Greg Jones and Brandon Denson combined for 39 tackles to lead Michigan State to a come-fron-behind 24-14 win over Northwestern.

The win improves the Spartans record to 4-3 and 3-1 in the conference. Michigan State senior kicker Brett Swenson tied Morten Anderson's all-time field goal record with his 62nd field goal of his career and could stamp himself the greatest kicker in MSU's illustrious history with another in his last five games.

Jones 14 tackles makes him the NCAA leader in tackles and second in average tackles per game. Freshmen running backs Edwin Baker (12 carries for 45 yards) and Larry Caper (16 carries for 63 yards and a touchdown) combined for 108 yards rushing.

MSU safety Jeremy Ware added ten tackles to help the Spartans cause. Down 7-0 at the half, Cousins hit White for a 47-yard TD pass to finish an 8-play, 87-yard drive.

Cousins and White connected for 22 yards out to give MSU a 14-7 lead. After a Northwestern 3-and-out, Swenson a 28-yard field goal tying Morten Anderson for the all-time career record at MSU and giving MSU a 17-7 lead.

Caper's 22-yard TD scamper put MSU in the catbird's seat at 24-7 before Northwestern's Mike Kafka hit Zeke Markshausen for a 1-yard TD to end the scoring.
