Spartans Still In The Mix?

Florida State transfer Thomas Clayton visited Northwestern this past weekend. Clayton talks about that visit and says there are two more schools that he will visit.

"I had a good visit," Clayton said. "I really liked the campus and the coaching staff at Northwestern.

"Northwestern is the team to beat but I'm going to take a few more visits.

"I'm going to Vanderbilt this coming weekend and Michigan State called me this week, so I'm going to check that out as well.

"I should know something in a couple of weeks."

The 6-foot, 200-pounder, from Alexandria (Va.) Mt. Vernon was released from his Florida State scholarship last month.

Clayton was one of the top running back prospects in the nation a year ago.
