Could Phoenix's Alex Lewis End Up At State?

He may have gotten a late start to the recruiting game but Phoenix Mountain Pointe star offensive tackle is coming on strong, garnering offers from the Big Ten, Big 12 and maybe another soon from the Pacific 10, but that could all be moot if he likes what he sees in East Lansing. GETINside to find out what's the latest with Lewis

Phoenix (AZ) Mountain View offensive lineman Alex Lewis may be late to the recruiting game, but now that he's getting the proper exposure, he's coming on strong on several teams boards.

"My former coach didn't help us out at all with recruiting. When sent out their questionnaire asking if our school had any collegiate prospects, he put down none," lamented Lewis.

That atmosphere led to the Pride winning just two games last season and several players looking to transfer out of the program. Enter new coach, Norris Vaughn. He led the Pride to a 12 win season, won the East Region and led his team to the 5A semifinals.

"Our new coach really helped us out, he sent out my tape and made a highlight tape of my career and sent that out too. That's how Michigan State found out about me."

Lewis confirmed that he will visit East Lansing on January 15th with his mom and dad in tow and he made this promising statement.

"I highly like Michigan State. I'm just going to wait and see how it goes on my visit. If I like it a lot I feel like I might commit while I'm up there."

Lewis helped spring back Davon Jones to a 1,700 yard season and says that Coach Mark Staten and Coach Dan Roushar have been instrumental in laying the groundwork in his interest and his visit to Michigan State.

Stay tuned.
