Poole Still Looking Around

For Antonio Poole the recruiting process is just heating up. While some may have penciled him in as an early favorite for their program, the Ohio linebacker knows he's not seen enough to know if one school is right or wrong. Are the Spartans a team with a chance? Spartan Digest has the latest.

Antonio Poole knows it's too early to write down a list of top schools and settle on it. With his offer list growing, Poole has yet to really take a hard look at some of the programs who've given the 6-foot-1, 225-pound outside linebacker a written pledge of a scholarship. Where does Michigan State stand right now?

"I've not visited Michigan State. I've got some teachers at my school telling me great things about them and how great the facilities are up there so it's a program I'm hoping to look more at."

The native of Fairfield, Ohio, Pools has seen a few players from the Southwest go play for the Spartans. "We played against Marcus Rush last season and he's a really good player. So I know they are getting some good ones." At this time Poole is looking to visit a few schools the next two weekends. For most of the spring he's been busy getting ready for his ACT.

"I've been busy getting ready for my ACT and getting it out of the way. I took it on Saturday so I'm hoping to get to a few schools the next two weekends. Right now I'm planning on going to Purdue for their spring game and then I'll go to Cincinnati's the following weekend."

With an offer from his hometown team Cincinnati, will distance play a factor in his college choice?

"The distance from home I don't really care about. My family just wants me to go to where is the best for me."

What will play a factor in his college choice. "As for academics I'm looking at three things I could major in. Engineering, business and psychology are the three things I'm looking at right now. A school will have to have the program I'm interested in studying for me to consider them. As for football I'll be looking to see if I fit into their system and if I fit into the depth chart. I also want a coaching staff with stability and a chance to win championships."

While Poole is hearing from several Big Ten schools, he doesn't feel it's the only conference he's capable of playing in.

"I think I could fit in anywhere across the country in any conference."

At this stage in his development Antonio knows he's got some strengths and weaknesses in his game. What areas does he feel he's strongest in and where does he need work?

"I feel my strength is my overall athletic ability and willingness to play hard on every play. Right now I feel I need to continue to work on my techniques of tackling and also playing better in zone coverage."

While it may be too soon to name a Top 5, Antonio feels his future commitment is just a matter of finding the right program.

"If I find the right school I'll make my commitment right then, but right now I'm just going through the process because this is a big decision I've got to make."

SpartanDigest.com will continue to follow Antonio Poole as he makes more visits and starts to make a top programs known.
