Heath To Get First Hand Look At Spartans

One of the top players from Ohio the Spartans have their eye on is Joel Heath of Cincinnati (Ohio) Mt. Healthy High School. SpartanDigest.com spoke with Heath about his upcoming visit.

With nine scholarship offers in hand, Joel Heath of Cincinnati (Ohio) Mt. Healthy High School knows it's time to start looking at what each program has to offer. On Saturday, Heath and his parents are scheduled to visit East Lansing and the Michigan State Spartans.

"I'm going up with my mom and dad and see what they have to offer," Heath said by phone. "I know they have a real good coach and they are a real good Big Ten school."

One thing Heath has noticed early is the bond he's building with his Spartan recruiter Harlon Barnett.

"He's a real cool guy and you can tell he really cares a lot about his players."

At 6-foot-5, 240-pounds, Heath has a long frame with the ability to come off the edge and make plays. His ability fits in perfect for what the Spartans do on defense and Heath hopes to see just how much Michigan State defensive line coach Ted Gill knows.

"I really want to check out the defensive line coach and see if he knows what he's doing."

This will be Joel's first time on the Michigan State campus and will really start the process in his decision making.

"Right now I'm trying to visit schools I might have interest in. I might wait until the end of my senior season so I can get some official visits in but I'm not sure right now."

Joel has just recently added offers from Minnesota, Western Kentucky and is being told Indiana is close to offering.

As for how the process is treating him, Joel feels his experience has gone well so far.

SpartanDigest.com will speak with Joel after his visit to see what he things about the Spartans.
