"We did a little drill today at the end as they looked at several of us because they've yet to decide who their going to take to California. But they told us they were still undecided and are going to go into the War Room and review the tape to decide who they are taking. I hope I'm on that list as my goal today was to come here and win the Golden Gun and be selected to go to California."
While the competition on Friday was stiff, Cook looked it down and didn't walk away from any challenge.
Just last week Connor made a return visit to Michigan State for the Spartans spring game. How was it to go back as a verbal commitment instead of just another prospect?
"It was great, everyone was having a lot of fun with all the trick plays the coaches were calling and everyone was having a blast. The game was real competitive too. It was a great atmosphere up there and I'm looking forward to when I'm there."
When asked why picking the Spartans was an easy thing to do, Cook was afraid his answer would be too repetitive.
"I feel like a broken record but it's all about family. After the spring game they had a huge family barbecue with all the players and coaches families. The coaches had their wives and kids there and you could see this is all about family."
With many of the nations top prospects at the event the next two days, Cook is looking to help the Spartans pick up a few more players. Who are some of the players Connor has been in contact with?
"I've been talking with Shaquille Washington, Devin Smith and Doran Grant. Shaq really likes the Spartans and if they would offer him he'd really consider them because of me. We're always around each other and I'm constantly talking with him and other to join me at Michigan State."
While signing day is still several months away, it looks as if the Spartans have gotten off on the right track with Connor Cook after his performance at the Elite 11.
