2012 QB Getting Spartan Interest

We check in with a quarterback from the Class of 2012 who is already holding several verbal offers and getting interest from Michigan State.

To already be on the radar for the Class of 2012 means you've stood out in some camps and early in your career. To already hold six Division One college offers means you've turned several heads.

Ft. Mitchell (KY) Dixie Heights High School quarterback Zeke Pike may not have taken control over his team's offense yet, but that doesn't mean he's not shown enough when given the chance to earn offers and interest from the Spartans.

"Michigan State came by the school on Tuesday," Pike said by phone. "Coach Barnett seems like a pretty cool guy and I've heard a lot of good things about the coaching staff."

One reason for the good vibes can be traced back to the days when Mark Dantonio and his staff coached at Cincinnati.

"Dustin Grutza and I work out about three times a week. He knows Coach Dave Warner and says a lot of great things about him and the whole coaching staff."

While Pike may be on the border of SEC and Big Ten Country, he's seen some good things about Michigan State.

"They've always been a program I've watched. They are in the Big Ten and the distance is right as far as going away from home. I'm looking forward to going up there this summer and seeing more. I've been invited to their Senior Camp and plan on going there on the 19th of June."

While the Spartans have not offered, they did get film to look at during their visit and seem to have early interest in learning more about the 6-foot-5, 225-pound signal caller.
