Looking To Earn A Spartan Offer

Wisconsin defensive tackle Mark Scarpinato gives the latest on his interest in Michigan State.

At 6-foot-3, 265-pounds, Mark Scarpinato of Milwaukee (WI) Marquette University High School is looking to open a few more eyes before making a summer verbal pledge. Where do the Spartans stand?

"Coach Gill and Salem really like me, but I think I still will have to go to camp. But when you have your recruiting coach and position coach working for you good things can happen."

What have the Spartans told Scarpinato?

"Coach Gill says he really likes my film, but they want to see me in camp before offering me. I'm pretty sure I'll be going to their one-day camp on June 19th."

While Scarpinato played last season at 275-pounds, his busy spring has seen his weight drop.

"With track season it's hard to keep weight on, but this summer I'm going to work to put some good weight on (about 10 pounds) and do it the right way."

After visiting Michigan State, what stood out when looking at the Spartans program.

"I was there the first weekend in May and I really liked it. They have great facilities and the coaches are great. I really liked it a lot."

What would happen if Michigan State would offer?

"I want to make my commitment in July before we get into our football camp so I can concentrate on my senior season. My mom and I are going to sit down after some camps and make my decision and stick with it until I sign."

With camp just over a month away, Mark Scarpinato only has a few more weeks to wait and see what happens with the Spartans.
