Chestnut Staying Focused

Pennsylvania defensive back Terrell Chestnut holds an offer from Michigan State. What does he know about the Spartans? SpartanDigest.com gets the latest on this 4-star Scout.com prospect.

At just about 5-foot-11, Terrell Chestnut has picked up several offers as one of the top defensive backs in the country. With offers from Penn State, Wisconsin, and West Virginia to name a few, Chestnut knows he must remain focused on what is at hand.

"Right now I'm focusing on my track season," Chestnut said by phone. "I'm not sure when I'll commit but I do know I need to check out several schools before I do so."

One program Chestnut is looking to revisit is Michigan State. The Spartans seem to be doing a solid job in recruiting him and he remembers well his visit to campus.

"Michigan State is a nice school, with a nice campus. I like how everything is very assessable to where you can hop on a bike and get to where you need to be. The coaches are great and I had a chance to see them during spring practice and get a feel for how they coach."

As for a return trip to East Lansing happening?

"I'm trying to get back out there. I can't make any promises but I'm going to try and get back out there."

Being recruiting as a cornerback, Chestnut knows he's got some good things going on with his game but also some areas to work on.

"Being a leader on the field I feel is one of my strengths. I hate to lose and I feel I have the ability to help our team win. Right now I need to let the game come to me instead of pushing it."

While he's in no hurry to give his verbal pledge, Chestnut has the Spartans as one of his top schools. The battle will be to get him out of Pennsylvania and away from instate programs Penn State and Pittsburgh.
