Spartan 66 Player Ranking #51

In looking at players on the current roster and players getting ready to enter Michigan State this fall, SpartanDigest.com presents its Spartan 66 Rankings. What is our reason for naming sixty-six Spartans? Michigan State last won a National Championship in 1966. We're now at player #51.

SD Ranking: #51

Jesse Johnson

Position: Safety / Special Teams

Exp: Redshirt Senior

Jesse Johnson is what college football is all about. Hard worker who knows he helps the team more on special teams than he may at a position. Players like Johnson often go unnoticed but Spartan Digest takes stock in such players.

Strengths: Work ethic, toughness, heart.

Weakness: Physical size.

Overall: Johnson has been a solid special team's player since his redshirt year in 2006. While he's had a few moments of glory, he understands he's got a job to do and does it to the best of his abilities.

Why He Made The List: If a team didn't have guys like Jesse Johnson there would be a serious weakness on special teams. Johnson is not going to win you over with his physical skills, but he's appeared in 33 games during his career and should leave earning four letters in the process.
