Mika'il McCall Talks Spartans

Running back Mika'il McCall holds several scholarship offers from programs in the Midwest. He spoke with SpartanDigest.com about the one he holds from Michigan State and his overall interest in the Spartans.

With offers from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Purdue, Syracuse and Michigan State to name a few, Mika'il McCall of Dolton (IL) Thornridge High School is looking to take his time in making his college choice. But one program that has caught his eye is Michigan State.

"They are one of the most friendly coaching staffs to talk with," McCall explained. "I feel I can get along with them well and right now they're in my top three."

Being recruited as a running back, McCall knows of the Spartans use of their backs since Mark Dantonio arrived on campus.

"They talk about Javon Ringer all the time and what he was able to do in their offense. Coach Roushar is my recruiting coach and he's always telling me about the offensive line and what he's doing with them to help the backs. I try to keep in touch with him all the time."

As for plans to visit the Spartans McCall may not take an official visit, but he knows he wants to see what the Spartans have to offer.

"I plan on visiting, I'm just not sure when. I just want to get out there and see the campus and all the things around there."

So what would turn McCall's head?

"The college I pick will have to have a nice environment and they've got to have my major. I'm looking to study Sports Medicine."

As to when he'll make the call?

"Right now I'm looking to make my choice in January. I want to take all five of my official visits. Michigan State is close so I don't feel I'd have to take one there."

In the meantime McCall is working on getting stronger while continuing working on his speed, vision and cutting ability.
