Spartans Welcome 7-on-7 Teams & Prospects

Michigan State played host to twenty-nine teams during their annual 7-on-7 Team Passing Camp. Not only did teams get some work, several prospects with Spartan interest were on campus. Spartan Digest was on hand and has the latest.

Look out Michigan, several teams took to the fields around the Spartans football complex getting an early start on the 2010 season. With most teams being based in Michigan, there was also a group from AWP Sports (Ft. Wayne, IN) that returned to MSU looking to give their many players a chance to show their wares.

But while the balls were flying in the air, a lot of attention was being given to 4-star running back Justice Hayes. Hayes showed the ability to play on both sides of the field and spent some time talking with Spartans head coach Mark Dantonio during a break in the action.

While Hayes reports the Spartans, along with Notre Dame and Michigan have been after him the hardest, the way Coach Dantonio and Hayes interacted looks very positive.

Another player making the trip with his team was Conor Hart of Brother Rice. While Hart was on hand on Friday, his big day will come on Saturday when the Spartans coaching staff welcomes many prospects looking to earn a scholarship offer from the Spartans or one of several other coaches working the camp.

Another school with a Spartan tie is Flint Northwestern coached by former Spartan Andre Rison.

The former Spartan great is working hard to bring Northwestern up to speed and when he spoke with Coach Dantonio he stressed they'll soon be having some players capable of taking their game to the next level. After watching Rison's team in action, you can see there is some young skill players coming up the ranks.

Another former Spartan also was on hand as Dan Enos and a few of his Central Michigan coaches worked the 7-on-7 and the offensive and defensive lineman camp.

Other players looking to get some Spartan love included the following.

Gabriel Dean – Lowell High School

Adam Lalley – Saint Joseph High School

Dylan Brooks – South Haven High School

Josh Taylor – South Haven High School

Jimmy Pickens – Brother Rice

Devin Church – Brother Rice

Allen Robinson – Orchard Lake Saint Mary's

The weather was great and the Spartan coaches made their way around to see each team throughout the day.

Saturday brings the Spartans Senior Camp with many prospects looking to earn offers. Spartan Digest will be on hand.
