Spartan 66 Player Rankings #30

In looking at players on the current roster and players getting ready to enter Michigan State this fall, SpartanDigest.com presents its Spartan 66 Rankings. What is our reason for naming sixty-six Spartans? Michigan State last won a National Championship in 1966. We're now at player #30.

SD Ranking: #30

William Gholston

Position: Linebacker

Exp: Freshman

Despite only being a freshman, William Gholston has a lot of people expecting great things from him and early. With great physical size and athletic ability, Gholston comes into Michigan State with many expecting him to be on the field in year one.

Strengths: Physical abilities and size.

Weakness: Experinece at the college level.

Overall: How much can William Gholston do as a true freshman? That question will soon be answered when the Spartans open camp. Gholston has been adjusting to college life this summer and that is a huge advantage as he's building himself into a player that will and should be expected to compete early in his career.

Why He Made The List: As one of the top players to sign with Michigan State since Mark Dantonio took over the program, William Gholston should earn time on the field in special situations the defensive staff has come up with. This is why there has been tinkering with the 3-4 as Gholston will be vital in some of the sets put in place this fall..
