Spartan 66 Player Rankings #28

In looking at players on the current roster and players getting ready to enter Michigan State this fall, presents its Spartan 66 Rankings. What is our reason for naming sixty-six Spartans? Michigan State last won a National Championship in 1966. We're now at player #28.

SD Ranking: #28

Brian Linthicum

Position: Tight end

Exp: Redshirt Junior

The former Clemson player has found a solid home at Michigan State in a program and offense that loves to use tight ends. After a solid season in 2009, Linthicum may be overshadowed by Charlie Gantt, but has the tools to be a high level player.

Strengths: Pass catching abilities and willingness to block.

Weakness: Continue to get stronger, work on technique, stay injury free.

Overall: Brian Linthicum could be ranked too low if he continues to play the way he's shown since becoming a Spartan. If not for other tight end talent, we'd be talking of Linthicum as the team's top tight end. But while he might end the season with higher numbers right now he's got some competition ahead of him.

Why He Made The List: Much should be expected out of Brian Linthicum by Spartan fans. Coming off an injury, Linthicum has shown the abilities to catch the ball and also do the dirty work along the line. Look for his numbers to continue to grow this fall and the following season.
