Barksdale Looking At Spartans

As one of Ohio's top prospects for the Class of 2012, Tres Barksdale of Solon (Ohio) will have his choice of colleges in the coming months. But with Michigan State getting ready for their final camp of the summer, Barksdale is hoping to show what he's got to the Spartan coaches.

"Michigan State is a program I have interest in," Barksdale told Spartan Digest. "They are not too far from home and they have a very good offense."

Having already camped at Ohio State and Notre Dame, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Barksdale is already opening some eyes.

"I started as a sophomore after a couple of players went down with an injury before the season started. I had 37 catches and over 600 yards with 6 touchdowns."

One area that Tres has also done well in is the classroom. With a father that is a doctor, education is very important to the future college wide receiver.

"Last quarter I ended with a 3.93 and have an overall GPA after the past two years of 3.62. I'll be looking hard at colleges that have solid medical programs.

Other programs Tres has interest in at this time include, Notre Dame, Penn State, Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Cincinnati and Michigan. Having camped at only Notre Dame and Ohio State, Tres is also looking to attend a couple of more camps this month.

"Vanderbilt has a camp on July 18th and I'm trying to get in touch with the coaches at Michigan State about attending their camp on July 12th."

With his combined athletic and academic skills, Tres Barksdale is a player Spartan fans better keep an eye on.
